Toronto police say have launched a dedicated website to reunite owners with about 2,500 “high-end” items that were stolen during a series of break-and-enters at condo buildings within the GTA.
At a news conference on Thursday, Toronto police provided an update on Project Compass, an ongoing investigation into a “network” of criminals who allegedly broke into at least 30 condo units in the GTA to steal high-value items.
The items that were stolen, police said, included gold, luxury watches, jewelry, and cash.
Police said the investigation was launched in September 2025 and, so far, three suspects are facing more than 150 charges in connection with the break-ins.
Police said they also identified a pawn shop near Church and Queen streets where the items were “trafficked.”
The total value of the property seized is believed to be between $1 million and $1.5 million, investigators say.
“We want to return these items to these items to their owners,” Insp. Joe Matys, of 14 Division, said at a news conference on Thursday.
“Many of these items are of high value and some may even be family heirlooms.”
He said images of the seized items can be found on a dedicated website set up by Toronto police. Anyone who believes they are the rightful owner of one or more of the items can submit a claim on the website and Toronto police will reach out for more details.
