Kawartha Lakes collision involving OPP cruiser sends 7 people to hospital, SIU investigating

The province’s police watchdog is investigating a collision involving an Ontario Provincial Police cruiser in Kawartha Lakes that sent seven people to the hospital on Friday afternoon.

It happened in Fenelon Falls on Highway 35 between Sommerville 3rd Concession and Mason Lane.

Sara Johnston, the chief of Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Services, told CP24 that seven people were transported to a local hospital.

There is no word on the severity of their injuries.

The Special Investigations Unit confirmed to CTV News that it has invoked its mandate.

The highway is closed for the investigation.
