1 person shot in Etobicoke; suspects at-large, Toronto police say

Police say a man was transported to hospital following a shooting in Rexdale.

A male has been rushed to the hospital following a shooting in north Etobicoke late Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened in the Rexdale neighbourhood, near Islington and Bergamot avenues, just north of Highway 401.

Toronto police said they were called to that area just before 5:15 p.m. for reports of a shooting at a commercial plaza.

There, officers found a male victim who had been shot.

He was transported to hospital via emergency run by paramedics, investigators said.

The extent of the victim’s injures is unknown at this time.

The circumstances that led to this shooting are also unclear.

Police say an unknown number of suspects fled the area prior to their arrival. They are only being described as Black males who were last seen wearing hoodies and possibly ski masks.
