House fire in Mississauga sends 1 person to hospital

Residents were evacuated from a late night housefire in Mississisauga near Winston Churchill and Britannia Rd, one person was taken to the hospital.

One person is in hospital after a house fire broke out in Mississauga early Monday morning.

Police said emergency crews responded to an active residential fire on Gardenview Crescent, near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Britannia Road West, at 1:05 a.m.

The residence was evacuated and one person was transported to a trauma centre with minor smoke inhalation.

It’s unclear what caused the fire.

Police said road closures are in effect in the area. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes.
