Toronto police say they located a man who had been assaulted after responding to a call for a shooting in north Etobicoke on Sunday evening.

The incident happened in the Rexdale neighbourhood, at Elmhurst Plaza, which is near Islington Avenue and Elmhurst Drive, north of Highway 401.

Toronot police say they were called to that area just before 6:45 p.m. for a shooting at a plaza.

There, officers found a male who had been assaulted.

His injuries are being described as non-life-threatening injuries and are not the result of being shot, investigators said.

They did confirm that “evidence of gunfire” was located at the scene.

Police say two suspects, one of whom was allegedly armed with a firearm, fled the area in a black SUV.

No suspect descriptions are available at this time.
