Sarnia police lay trafficking, firearms charges after search nets cocaine, meth and gun

Two men are facing drug trafficking and firearms-related charges after Sarnia police seized cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, cash and a loaded handgun during the use of a search warrant earlier this month.

The Sarnia Police Service said members of its Emergency Response Team, K9 Unit and Drug Unit, entered a home in the 2900 block of Confederation Line on Aug. 10 at about 10:30 p.m.

Police arrested two men without incident.

Investigators searched the residence as well as a vehicle associated with one of the accused. The search resulted in the seizure of 176 grams of cocaine, 133 grams of crystal methamphetamine, $27,270 in Canadian currency and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Police also seized a loaded .40-calibre Glock 27 handgun that was allegedly concealed inside a vehicle linked to one of the accused.

A 35-year-old Scarborough man has been charged with multiple firearms-related offences, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

A 52-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of crystal methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

Both accused were held in custody pending bail hearings. Police said the matter is now before the courts.
