Several people had to be rescued from their vehicles that were stuck in the middle of a flooded underpass in downtown Toronto on Wednesday afternoon.
A CP24 camera captured Toronto police officers wading through the flood to get the submerged vehicles and help the occupants to safety.
They were just some of the many motorists who had to be rescued after thunderstorms swept across the Greater Toronto Area on Wednesday, causing widespread flooding on roads.
In Toronto, parts of the Don Valley Parkway, Lake Shore Boulevard West, Gardiner Expressway, and Allen Road were closed due to flooding.
Emergency services in other parts of the GTA also reported responding to numerous calls for rescue after people got stuck while attempting to drive through flooded roads and underpasses.
In Vaughan, multiple people had to be rescued from submerged cars and public buses in the area of Bowes and Rivermede Roads.
Meanwhile in Mississauga, Peel police also reported vehicles that were stuck in a flooded underpass near Southdown and Bromsgrove Roads.
