Caledon and Vaughan were among the hardest-hit communities in Ontario when thunderstorms swept across the region Wednesday, as both areas saw more than 130 millimetres of rain.
The latest figures from Environment Canada shows just how uneven the rainfall was, with several communities recording more than 80 millimetres.
Here’s a full list of which cities got hit the worst.
1. Caledon - 138.9 mm
Caledon recorded the highest rainfall total, according to Environment Canada, with 138.9 millimetres reported by a volunteer observer.
2. Vaughan - 133.0 mm
Vaughan came in second with 133 millimetres of rain.
The city was also among communities like Toronto where Environment Canada noted widespread flooding following the storms.
3. North York - 118.1 mm
North York recorded 118.1 millimetres, making it the third-highest total in the province-wide summary.
The area was also hit by some of the storm’s largest hail, with reports ranging from 2.5 to 6.5 centimetres.
4. Mitchell - 107.4 mm
Mitchell. Ont. located near Kitchener, Ont.,recorded 107.4 millimetres of rain, according to a volunteer observation.
5. Scarborough - 105.9 mm
Meanwhile, in Toronto’s east-end, Scarborough rounded out the top five with 105.9 millimetres.
At one point during the storm, major flooding was reported on Scarborough Golf Club Road, where a stretch of the road is currently under construction.
One resident told CTV News the road has been under construction for years, but conditions this year have been particularly bad.
“I think it’s a dangerous situation, right? It’s impacting travelling, going here, going there,” the resident said.
“Whenever the rain happens, this flooding happens here.”
The rainfall was part of a storm system that brought widespread flooding across parts of the Greater Toronto Area.
6. Thornhill - 93.2 mm
Thornhill recorded 93.2 millimetres.
7. Bolton - 92.5 mm
Bolton saw 92.5 millimetres of rainfall.
8. Wellesley - 83.6 mm
Wellesley, Ont., recorded 83.6 millimetres.
9. Newmarket - 82.9 mm
Newmarket saw 82.9 millimetres of rain.
10. Stouffville - 73.2 mm
Stouffville recorded 73.2 millimetres, rounding out the top 10.
