Here is a look at what is open and closed in Toronto on Labour Day 2026

The last long weekend of the summer has arrived and a stretch of beautiful weather is on tap for Toronto.

Here is a look at what’s open, what’s closed, and what events are on in Canada’s largest city on Labour Day weekend 2026.

Shopping centres

Most malls will be closed on Labour Day. A few centres that will remain open but will operate on reduced hours.

Grocery stores

Most major grocery chains will be closed on Labour Day. However, there are a few places that will remain open on the holiday:

  • Loblaws, 60 Carlton Street
  • Metro, College Park
  • Farm Boy, 207 Queens Quay West
  • Some Shopper’s Drug Mart locations
  • Kitchen Table locations
  • Rabba Fine Foods locations

Liquor sales

  • All LCBO locations will be closed on Labour Day.
  • Some Beer Store locations will be open
  • Some Wine Rack locations will remain open
  • Licensed convenience stores are permitted to sell alcohol on Labour Day

Tourist attractions

Many tourist attractions will remain open for business on Labour Day, including:

  • The CN Tower
  • Ripley’s Aquarium
  • The Toronto Zoo
  • The Hockey Hall of Fame
  • The Royal Ontario Museum
  • The Art Gallery of Ontario
  • Canada’s Wonderland
  • The CNE

Government offices and banks

Toronto Public Library locations will be closed on Labour Day along with federal, provincial, and municipal offices.

TTC/ GO Transit

On Sept. 7, the TTC will run on a holiday schedule and GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule.

Weather

Toronto’s long weekend weather forecast should be a pleasant one for those who are sticking around the city.

Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of rain on Saturday. A daytime high of 25 C is in the forecast, feeling closer to 30 when factoring in the humidity.

On Sunday, Toronto will see sunshine and a high 24 C. Monday will also be bright and beautiful with a high of 26 C.
