Streetcar service will be disrupted as the Toronto International Film Festival makes its return to the city this week.
The festival will close down a portion of King Street West from Spadina to University avenues beginning at 5 a.m. on Thursday. The roadway will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, but will be closed again from 3 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 14 and 15.
During that time, the TTC says the streetcars that go along this route, 504A/304 King and 508 Lake Shore, will be diverted.
Here’s how the lines will be diverted, according to the transit network:
- Eastbound on King Street West: North on Spadina Avenue, east on Queen Street West, south on York Street, east on Adelaide Street, south on Church Street before resuming regular routing eastbound on King Street East
- Westbound on King Street West: North on Church Street, west on Richmond Street, north on York Street, west on Queen Street West, south on Spadina Avenue before resuming regular routing on King Street West
The TTC says 504B King streetcars will not be running west of York Street, and that the impacted lines will divert south on Church Street, west on Wellington Street, and north on York Street before heading back east to Broadview Station.
Streetcar services will not make stops on King Street West between Spadina Avenue and York Street.
“Throughout TIFF, the TTC will have identifiable staff positioned at key locations to assist customers and provide information about transit options,” TTC officials wrote in a news release.
The transit commission also says commuters may experience delays during certain times from Sept. 16 through 19, as a result of red carpet events on King.
