A teenage boy has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a 17-year-old who was gunned down in North York earlier this week.
Cashie Auguste was shot at around 3:30 p.m. on Monday near a bus shelter at the intersection of Jane Street and Finch Avenue West.
He was pronounced dead in hospital a short time later.
On Thursday, police confirmed that a 16-year-old boy has now been arrested in connection with the homicide.
He has been charged with first-degree murder and failing to comply with a probation order.
The accused, who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Investigators have not released a possible motive for the shooting.
A vigil was held for Auguste earlier this week, where he was remembered as an “all-around good kid” who “lit up any room that he was in.”
