A motorcyclist in his 30s has died after a single-vehicle collision on Lake Shore Boulevard West early Sunday morning.
Toronto police say officers responded to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle at around 5 a.m. in the area of Lake Shore Boulevard West and British Columbia Road.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speaking to reporters, Duty Insp. Jon Rose said the preliminary investigation indicates speed may have been a factor in the collision, but the circumstances are still being investigated.
Rose said the victim’s family has been notified and is “distraught,” adding that police are thinking of the family.
The scene is “quite large,” Rose said, and officers with Traffic Services and the reconstruction unit will need time to investigate.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken with investigators to contact Traffic Services.
As a result, Lake Shore Boulevard West is closed between British Columbia Road and Ontario Drive.
Drivers are being asked to use alternate routes and expect delays in the area.
