A 46-year-old man from Toronto has been charged with second-degree murder following a deadly stabbing in North York on Saturday night.
The incident happened at an apartment building on Tangreen Court, near Steeles Avenue West and Hilda Avenue, just west of Yonge Street.
Toronto police said they were called to that area just before 8:30 p.m. for a call for a stabbing.
There, officers found a male victim who had been stabbed.
In a follow-up news release, police say two people were involved in a physical altercation when one of them stabbed the other.
Life-saving measures were performed on the victim, who was later pronounced dead on scene, they said.
The suspect was arrested at the scene.
Meir Cohen, 46, of Toronto, has been charged with second-degree murder.
He was scheduled to appear in bail court on Sunday morning.
The charge Cohen is facing has not been tested in court.
The victim, who has been described by police as a male in his 50s, will be identified once next-of-kin notifications have been made, they said.
This is Toronto’s 29th homicide of 2026.
