Police investigate after a man was found on the road on Midland and McNicoll following a fatal hit-and-run.

Toronto police are searching for a driver who fled after striking a 35-year-old man who was lying down in the middle of the road in Scarborough early Friday morning.

It happened near Midland and McNicoll avenues shortly before 2 a.m.

Police said the man was located lying face down in the southbound lanes of Midland Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle.

“Due to the circumstances and weather, the driver may be unaware that they struck a pedestrian and failed to remain at the scene of a collision,” police said in a news release on Friday evening.

Shortly after emergency services arrived, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police have not released a description of the vehicle involved.
