Peel police say a call at the University of Toronto Mississauga was contained to a single residential unit. Courtney Heels has what we know so far.

Classes at the University of Toronto Mississauga campus have been cancelled this morning after officers responded to a dangerous weapons call at a dorm on the campus late Monday night.

A shelter-in-place order was first issued at around 9:30 p.m. after the university said that it received reports of police activity at its Mcluhan Court residence at 3330 Residence Rd.

Peel police later said the incident was “isolated and contained to a single residential unit” and no injuries had been reported.

“The immediate area has been evacuated and residents being asked to shelter in place. Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area,” police said in an email to CP24 late Monday night.

In an update early Tuesday, police said the matter had been resolved and officers would remain on scene overnight.

Police noted that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

In a social media post, the university confirmed that the campus is open Tuesday but classes will be cancelled.

Police also previously said that mental health and counselling supports will be available to those impacted by the incident.
