York Region Public Health is warning the public about possible exposures to a confirmed case of measles in Newmarket last week.

According to officials, the potential exposures occurred at a hotel in Newmarket and the Magna Centre.

Anyone who attended the Best Western Voyageur Place Hotel, located at 17565 Yonge Street, between 2 p.m. on Friday and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday may have been exposed to measles, officials said.

York Region Public Health said those who visited the Magna Centre, located at 800 Mulock Drive, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday may have also been exposed to the virus.

“If you were present at the above times and locations and you were with an infant under 6 months of age, you are pregnant or if you are immunocompromised, please call York Region Public Health immediately as you may be eligible for preventive treatment,” officials said in a news release issued this week.

The York Region Public Health Unit said this particular care of measles is associated with an outbreak in the Grand Erie Health Unit.
