A nonverbal man who was found in Richmond Hill on Wednesday has been reunted with his family.

York Regional Police say they were called to the area of Elgin Mills Road West and Bathurst Street at about 10 a.m. after receiving a report of a male who was seen wandering through the neighbourhood and “apparently lost.”

“The male appeared disoriented and was unable to provide any identifying information or a home address,” they said in a news release.

“While he is currently safe and receiving care at a local hospital, officers have been unable to confirm his identity, determine his place of residence or locate any family members.”

The man was described as white, 38 to 45 years old with a thin build and approximately five-foot-11 and 170 pounds with blue eyes, light brown wavy hair, and an unshaven face.

He was last seen wearing a black-and-tan striped dress shirt, blue pajama pants, and black sneakers.

Police are thanking the public for their assistance.
