Investigation underway after Vaughan townhouse damaged by fire

Ontario’s fire marshall has been called in after a significant fire at a townhouse in Vaughan overnight which displaced two people

No injuries were reported after a significant townhouse fire in Vaughan early Thursday morning.

York Regional Police say the blaze broke out shortly before 3 a.m. on Stonebriar Drive, near Keele Street and McNaughton Road.

Residences surrounding the fire scene were evacuated and no one was injured, police noted.

The fire was contained to one unit and the blaze appears to have started in the garage, Vaughan Fire told CP24.

The residence sustained substantial structural and smoke damage.

Two residents have been displaced as a result of the incident, officials added.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and the Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified.
