One person is in custody after a home invasion in Vaughan early Thursday morning, York Regional Police say.

It happened near Pine Valley and Major Mackenzie drives at around 1 a.m.

Police said some jewelry, cash, and other items were stolen from the home and while one occupant of the residence was inside at the time, no injuries were reported.

One suspect fled the scene in a vehicle that was later involved in a single-vehicle crash on an on-ramp to Hwy. 400 at Major Mackenzie Drive, police said.

The suspect, according to investigators, fled on foot and was later apprehended by police.

The on-ramp was closed for several hours for the investigation and repairs but has since reopened.
