Police arrest man accused of firing shots at parked vehicle in Vaughan

Shocking surveillance footage shows the moment when a suspect began shooting a gun at a parked vehicle outside a home in a residential Vaughan neighbourhood.

A man suspected of firing shots at a parked vehicle in a Vaughan driveway in January has been arrested.

York Regional Police (YRP) said they got a call for gunshots in the area of Madeira Avenue and Genoa Road shortly before 5 a.m. on Jan. 18.

When officers arrived at a residence, they did not find any victims but located several bullet holes in a car in the driveway.

Video shared with CP24 showed that after getting out of a Honda Civic, one suspect began shooting at the parked vehicle while the other smashed its rear windows.

One suspect was arrested by Toronto police on Feb. 15 in a separate investigation, YRP said. A firearm was also recovered during the arrest.

It was determined later that the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Shane Harty, was allegedly responsible for the Vaughan shooting.

He has been charged with six firearm-related offences, possession of property obtained by crime and mischief to property over $5,000.

YRP said at least one suspect is still outstanding. No description has been released.

They are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.
