Police are on scene assisting with traffic control following a field fire in Vaughan.

In an email to CP24, York Regional Police say the incident appears to have happened in an industrial area near Bowes Road, south of Rivermede Road, adding that emergency crews were called sometime after 12 p.m.

Visuals from CP24 chopper appear to show the fire near train tracks where a GO Train passed by.

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS) said their crews contained a fire that engulfed several cars and a garbage dumpster.

“The GO tracks in proximity to this fire were temporarily slowed and then shut down for a short period to facilitate firefighting activity,” VFRS said in a statement to CP24.

The fire had been put out as of around 2:35 p.m., VFRS said, adding that there were no reported injuries.

It’s unclear how the fire started or if there are any injuries but police note an investigating is ongoing.
