What to do if you encounter a coyote
According to the City of Markham, it is best to remain calm if you encounter a coyote and to “make yourself appear larger by making noise, yelling, clapping your hands, or waving your arms.”
The City also recommends maintaining eye contact and slowly backing away.
“Always keep a safe distance and do not approach, feed, or attempt to interact with the animal.”
