Six people are in police custody after a man who sustained “significant trauma injuries” died in an Aurora residence on Wednesday afternoon.
York Regional Police media relations officer Const. James Dickson said officers were called to Wellington Street East and Walton Drive, east of Yonge Street, at 2:45 p.m. for unknown trouble.
“When our officers arrived on scene, they located a male who was suffering from significant trauma injuries. He was declared deceased on scene,” Dickson said.

The victim, who was an adult male, has not been identified.
The cause of death is unknown, and police would only say that a homicide investigation was underway.
“It’s still very early in the investigation. We don’t have a lot of information to share,” Dickson said.
He noted that no charges have been laid against the six people in custody, and police are not looking for any other suspect. Dickson said five were apprehended in close proximity to the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are not immediately known.
“We’re still looking into all the details behind this incident. It appears to be isolated. It appears to be specifically to this residence,” Dickson said.

Noting that the residence is located on a busy street, he urged anyone with information, including drivers and pedestrians, to contact police if they saw anything suspicious.
“We’re going to be on scene for quite a while. We have a forensics team that’s going to be looking into all of the incidents surrounding this, and we’re going to be collecting evidence,” Dickson said.
“Residents in the neighbourhood can expect our officers to be going door to door looking for any video or anyone who might have any information.”
