Paramedics say two people have been taken to hospital after a pedestrian was struck in a parking lot at Woodbine Avenue and Denison Street.

A pedestrian has been taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in a Markham parking lot on Tuesday afternoon.

York Regional Police said they got a call shortly after 1:30 p.m. for a collision in the area of Woodbine Avenue and Denison Street, north of Steeles Avenue East.

There is no immediate word on the pedestrian’s extent of injuries.

York Region paramedics told CTV News that they transported two people from the scene. It is unclear who is the other injured person.

The cause of the collision is unknown.

They add that there will be an increased police presence in the area as they investigate the incident.
