Police in York Region are searching for two suspects who allegedly intentionally set two vehicles on fire in Richmond Hill late last month.
York Regional Police said on July 24, at around 2:15 a.m., they responded to reports of a vehicle fire on Gatcombe Circle, which is south of Elgin Mills Road West between Bathurst and Yonge streets.
There, officers found a vehicle “fully engulfed” in flames along with a second vehicle with its trunk area also “engulfed in flames.”
Richmond Hill Fire and Emergency Services extinguished the blaze and determined the fire was the result of arson, police said.
They added that there was no damage to the residence or any physical injuries.
Police say surveillance footage from the area shows two suspects, one carrying a jerry can, walking along Gatcombe Drive just after 2 a.m. A short time later, the suspects are seen running away.
Police say a suspect vehicle, a dark-coloured sedan, was seen driving on Gatcombe Drive around the time of the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing and anyone who may have surveillance or dashcam video around the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact the #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7241, or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
