York Regional Police (YRP) say charges have been laid after a series of break-and-enters across Newmarket.
According to police, the incidents took place between Aug. 3 and Aug. 16 in the early morning hours.
Police claim the suspect is responsible for at least 14 commercial break and enter incidents.
On Wednesday, police took a Newmarket man into custody.
YRP say a search warrant executed at a home in Newmarket led to the recovery of (empty) cash register trays and “break and enter tools.”
Jonathan Allen, 46, now faces a number of charges.
YRP have charged Allen with 10 counts of possession of “break in instruments.” Allen also faces 12 counts of committing break and enter and a dozen additional counts of break and enter with intent.
Police say Allan was previously on probation at the time he allegedly committed the break-and-enters.
Police have shared his name and photo as they believe there may be other businesses or members of the community who may be victims of break-and-enter.
