A lockdown at a Brampton high school has been lifted after police determined an anonymous tip about four males with guns inside was false.

Police say they received the anonymous phone call at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday and placed Bramalea Secondary School located at 510 Balmoral Drive under lockdown as they investigated the report.

A perimeter had been set up out of caution, and the tactical unit was at the scene doing a classroom by classroom search.

Police have arrested a boy and say he allegedly called 911 and gave false information about the school.

The school is located near Dixie Road and Clark Boulevard and has over 1,800 students.

The lockdown lasted for one hour.
