Toronto police have made an arrest in the city's first homicide of 2012.

Jamahl Franklin, 20, was attending a New Year's Eve party at a home on Hupfield Trail in Scarborough on Dec. 31.

At around 4 a.m. on New Year's Day officers found him lying on a nearby sidewalk, suffering from several gunshot wounds.

Baptists Bernier, 22, of Toronto, was arrested Thursday and has been charged with second-degree murder in Franklin's death.

Police continue to investigate the case and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. Officers are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have taken photos at the party Franklin had attended before his death.
