Toronto police and Ministry of Labour officials are investigating after a man was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer at his workplace early Wednesday.

Police said the collision occurred in a parking lot at Marmora Freezing Corp., located on Marmora Street near Highway 401 and Weston Road, shortly after 12:20 a.m.

A 42-year-old man was backing up a tractor-trailer when it struck a 69-year-old employee who was walking through the lot.

Police said the victim was struck by the rear passenger side of the trailer and knocked to the ground. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name hasn't been released.
