SUDBURY, Ontario - A man determined to protect his yard from an intruder faces criminal charges after he shot a bear with a bow and arrow.
The bear died and the Hanmer, Ont., resident escaped injury following an incident yesterday afternoon near Sudbury.
It all started after the man noticed a bear in his yard and chased it up a tree with a compound bow.
Police say he then fired, killing the animal.
The arrow then continued to come down near a neighbour in the immediate area.
The man is now facing criminal charges from posing a danger to the public, and his firearms were seized for the original offence.
