A man was shot to death in broad daylight in a neighborhood that has seen violence-- including two other murders-- escalate in recent weeks.

The recent victim is a 22-year-old man who was shot in the chest on Mount Olive Drive in Rexdale, near Albion Road and Martin Grove Road around 2 p.m.

He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead.

This is the second shooting in the area in two days.

On Saturday, a senior was shot in the leg; hit by what police believe is a stray bullet, during a drive-by shooting at a townhouse complex.

The man in his seventies was shot while sitting on the porch of a house on Humber Boulevard, in the Black Creek Drive and Weston Road area around 5:30 p.m.

He is recovering and is back on the same porch today enjoying the warm weather.

Toronto police say they moved extra officers into this North Etobicoke neighborhood earlier this month after three recent shootings.

On Monday, Sean Tevan Lennon, 22, was shot and killed while riding his bike in the Finch Avenue West and Martin Grove Road area.

A week earlier, a man was wounded when he was shot on Mount Olive Drive.

And just days before that, the body of 17-year-old Nerio Valdez was found after he had been shot to death in a hydro field near Steeles Avenue West and Martin Grove Road.
