A mall employee has been rushed to hospital with a gunshot wounds after a robbery at a North York mall.

Police say they received a call at about 8:35 p.m. on Wednesday about a robbery at the Victoria Terrace Shopping Centre on 1448 Lawrence Avenue East, near Victoria Park Avenue.

Officers responded to the call at the Swap Shop -- a second hand jewelry store -- and found the store manager suffering from gunshot wounds.

The man, in his thirties, has been taken to hospital in serious condition. He was shot twice in the stomach and there are reports he is being treated for head injuries after being struck several times in the head with a baseball bat.

Police say there were two ski-masked suspects, who made off with an undisclosed amount of money and jewelry.

The first suspect is described as a black male with corn rows and he is armed with a handgun. The second suspect is described as a thin black male.

Investigators are talking to witnesses and reviewing security video footage.
