OWEN SOUND - A day-long standoff between provincial police and an armed man southwest of Owen Sound has come to a grim conclusion.
OPP Const. Alina Grelik says the suspect died this morning after gunfire broke out at a home near the community of Mooresburg.
Negotiators had been trying to resolve the issue peacefully as the standoff stretched into its second day.
Officers were called to a home (on Concession Road 8) at about 7 a.m. Thursday to investigate allegations that a man was making threats.
Police quickly realized he was armed.
The Special Investigations Unit has been called in to probe the death.
