Toronto's mayoral candidates are joining forces in an effort to eradicate the financial debts they accumulated during this fall's election campaign.

A fundraising "unity" dinner will be held for winner Rob Ford and runners up George Smitherman, Rocco Rossi and Sarah Thomson.

Joe Pantalone, who placed third in the mayoral race is not taking part in the dinner, saying he can pay off his debt himself. Smitherman, who placed second and did not run up a debt, is said to be taking part to help Thomson cover her expenses.

Thomson finished with a $100,000 debt. Rossi is about $40,000 in debt and Ford racked up a $650,000 debt
