OTTAWA - The threat of E. coli has prompted federal health authorities to issue a warning about certain no name beef burgers and beef steakettes sold at Loblaws stores.

The burgers are in a 1.36 kilogram package bearing the UPC code 0-60383-37333-7.

The steakettes are in a 2.27 kilo Club Pack with a UPC code 0-60383-01321-9.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says there has been one reported illness associated with the consumption of these products.

The CFIA says food contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 may not look or smell spoiled but eating it may cause serious and potentially life-threatening illnesses.

The manufacturer, New Food Classics of Burlington, Ont., is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace and the CFIA is monitoring the recall.
