An elderly woman has been arrested in a sausage tampering case, which is believed to be related to several incidents in late May and June of this year.

CP24 confirmed the arrest at a Loblaws store on Dundas Street, near Bloor Street at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Toronto police say the arrest is believed to be related to food tampering cases where sewing needles were found in Piller's Polish sausages and other brands. There's no information on the charges the woman is facing.

There have been about five cases of food tampering at various grocery stores in the city's west end.

The woman is scheduled to appear at a downtown court on Saturday morning.
