TORONTO - TV writers who penned episodes of "Flashpoint," "Less Than Kind" and "Rookie Blue" are among the finalists for the Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Awards.

The film category includes nominations for Michael Konyves for "Barney's Version," Adriana Maggs for "Grown Up Movie Star" and Dennis Foon for "Life, Above All."

The writers guild will celebrate excellence in Canadian screenwriting April 11 in Toronto.

Writers for "Less Than Kind" scored three of the four nominations in the TV comedy category, while Bruce McCulloch and Mark McKinney of "Kids in the Hall: Death Comes to Town" nabbed one.

The youth series "Wingin' It" and the animated "League of Super Evil" scored two nods apiece, as did the cop dramas "Rookie Blue" and "Flashpoint," which face off against "Durham County."

The finalists were chosen from 150 scripts. They will compete in seven categories, including movies and miniseries, TV drama, and TV comedy.
