Hamilton police say murder victim was targeted

HAMILTON, Ont. - Hamilton police have identified the city's first murder victim of the year.

Police say 36-year-old Michael Swistak was shot and killed Friday night in the playground of the Cathy Weaver Elementary School.

They say the shooting wasn't random and was "directly related to illegal drug activity" at a home on nearby Madison Avenue.

An autopsy is underway.

Police are seeking a suspect described as black, male, 20 to 30 years old with an afro hairstyle.
