Andrea Hartling tracks traffic and breaking news stories as part of the CP24 Assignment Team. Hartling reports live on breaking news based out if CP24’s downtown headquarters. In addition, she talks traffic on-air to help get Torontonians where they need to go.
Since joining CP24 in 2011, Hartling has delivered the news of Jack Layton’s death, and was on the desk the night of the Scarborough mass shooting that killed two. She has chased and landed interviews with everyone from politicians including Stephen Harper to pop stars like Justin Bieber; Hartling loves the thrill of the chase and getting the story out first.
Prior to working at Toronto’s Breaking News - CP24, Hartling was a reporter for CTV Southwestern Ontario for more than two years. She also earned her reporter stripes with stints at CTV Two London and AM740 Prime Time Radio in Oakville, ON. While in school Hartling wrote freelance articles for a number of newspaper outlets and interned at Global News Toronto.
When not tracking the latest breaking news developments, Hartling focuses on fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She enjoys cooking, personal finance, golf and spending time with family at her cottage on the Ottawa River.
Raised in Oakville, ON, Hartling now lives in Toronto. She holds an honours B.A from the University of Guelph and a Masters in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario, as well as a Certificate in Operational Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
