An NDP government would scrap Ontario's fees for ambulance services.

Leader Andrea Horwath says the $45 fee often charged to be transported to hospital simply adds stress for people going through a medical emergency.

She says her own mother has hesitated to call for a ride when she needed it, and with an aging population, it's a problem more people in Ontario will face.

The plan will cost about $30 million a year but have no impact on hospital budgets.

The NDP had already promised to take the HST off hydro and home heating bills as well as regulate gas prices.

Horwath will unveil the party's platform during a pre-campaign convention June 24.
