Some commuters on GO Transit's Lakeshore East line encountered delays Wednesday morning after a signal cable was severed in an act of vandalism overnight.

GO Transit said Durham Regional Police are investigating the crime, which occurred between Pickering and Rouge Hill stations.

Toronto-bound trains were delayed by about 10 minutes until crews repairs the severed cable and service returned to normal at about 6:40 a.m.

During the repairs, trains were forced to slow down between Guildwood and Rouge Hill stations for safety reasons, resulting in delays, said GO Transit spokeswoman Vanessa Thomas.
