Tenants of Thornhill’s main shopping mall have been told the property is for sale.

The owners of three stores in CF Promenade Mall who did not want their names to be used told CP24 Wednesday that Cadillac Fairview, the property’s owner, has put the 879,000 square foot property up for sale.

One store owner said he received a memo yesterday saying the mall was on the market, but the memo did not say why the property was up for sale.

The store owners say they are somewhat worried and would like to know who the new owner will be as soon as possible and whether their rents will increase.

According to BuzzBuzzHome News, the memo told tenants it would be “business as usual” while a buyer for the property is sought.

The mall underwent a $45 million refurbishment in 2009, Cadillac Fairview says on its website.

It contains major retailers Sears, T&T Supermarket, Old Navy and a large movie theatre. It also contains extensive office space.
