There is no need to double check your calendar or the thermometer.

The mercury has indeed hit 17.8 C at Pearson International Airport, breaking a 74-year-old record for this date.

The temperature, which was recorded at 1 p.m., is well above the seasonal average of 8 C.

"Not only did it turn out to be a beautiful afternoon, but it turned out to be a record afternoon and not only did we beat the record, but I'd like to say we crushed it,” CP24 Weather Specialist Jamie Gutfreund said. “The previous record was 17.2 C and we are actually at around 18 C.”

The good news doesn’t end there, either.

The warm temperatures are expected to continue for at least one more day with Environment Canada predicting a high of 16 C on Monday.

On Tuesday, however, you may want to break out that winter jacket as the temperature is expected to plateau at 3 C.
