Officials are trying to determine what caused a two-alarm fire at an apartment building in Scarborough’s Birch Cliff neighbourhood this morning.

Fire crews responded to 10 Glen Everest Road at around 1:20 a.m. for reports of heavy smoke on the 11th floor of the building.

The fire was eventually upgraded to a two-alarm call.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found debris burning on a bench in the lobby of the 11th floor.

The flames were put out with a fire extinguisher and no injuries were reported.

A fire investigator with Toronto Fire Services has been sent in to determine cause.
