Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell's chances for re-election are dwindling as support for the incumbent continues to drop, according to a new poll.

The Mainstreet Technologies poll, which randomly surveyed 1,507 Brampton residents on Oct. 2, revealed that only 13 per cent of respondents would vote for Fennell in the upcoming election. About 36 per cent of respondents want to see candidate Linda Jeffrey take over the mayor's chair and 20 per cent said they would support John Sanderson. Baljit More was a distant fourth with 5 per cent support and a large number of respondents (27 per cent) said they were undecided.

Among voters who said they were certain that they will get out to cast their ballot on election day, Jeffrey received 38 per cent support, compared to Sanderson, who recieved 24 per cent support and Fennell with 12 per cent.

Fennell came under fire earlier this year after a forensic audit revealed she and her staff broke hundreds of spending rules over a seven-year period.

“This has become a two horse race between Jeffrey and Sanderson ... There is a clear lack of momentum for incumbent Mayor Susan Fennell; it would be very tough to turn these kind of numbers around," Mainstreet Technologies President Quito Maggi said in a written statement.

“With one in four voters undecided there is still room for movement as the campaign heads into its final days; where those voters go will determine this election."

This poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.52 per cent.
