The Ford brothers have invited Jimmy Kimmel to a special birthday bash, joking with the late-night comedian that he needs to help get the mayor re-elected if he wants to keep his hit show peppered with the antics that have made Rob Ford a household name.

In the latest segment of their internet show ‘Ford Nation’ that was posted to YouTube Monday morning, Mayor Rob Ford and Coun. Doug Ford personally invited Kimmel to Doug’s 50th birthday party in November.

“There are no two people I’d rather spend my birthday with than the two of you”  said Kimmel, who made a special appearance on the show via video chat. “I would love to make it. I would love to be the party clown.”

Doug Ford, who is his brother’s campaign manager, was quick to try and get Kimmel to agree to another appearance on the campaign trail.

“When are you going to get your backside up to save your job and start door knocking and make sure this guy keeps you going every single night?” Coun. Ford asked.

“I want to throw a FUN raiser in classic Rob Ford style,” Kimmel said.

The comedian appeared on the show to make good on a promise he made to the brothers after the mayor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live back in February.

Kimmel, who has joked about Ford repeatedly on late night TV, personally called the mayor earlier this year to try and get him to agree to come on the show. Ford did so the day after the Oscars and sat through three segments as Kimmel pummeled him with pointed questions about his drug use, rumoured alcoholism and erratic behaviour.

On the show, the Fords wasted no time in poking fun at Kimmel.

Kimmel appeared wearing a black suit and red tie – the same outfit Ford wore when he appeared on his show.

“You’re looking like a magician, what’s going on?” Doug Ford asked, mimicking Kimmel’s initial dig at the mayor.

The outfit received so much attention that Ford had a special bobble head made of himself in the outfit. He promised to send one to Kimmel on the show.

Coun. Ford, then poked fun at the comedian for giving his audience alcohol before his first show, pointing out how one person vomited and had to be carried out of the studio.

“You sound like a politician, saying ‘I don’t know what happened that night,’” Coun. Ford said.

“No, I’m just saying I was so drunk I don’t know what happened that night,” Kimmel said.

“I’ve used that excuse once too many times myself!” Mayor Ford said laughing heartily as his face turned bright red.

Kimmel then took another dig at Ford’s colourful comments in the past when he suggested he wanted to sleep at the mayor’s house – beside him and his wife.

Ford laughed as his brother quickly said, “We’re not going to comment on that one.”

The mayor drew gasps when he once crassly told a group of reporters that he didn’t have an affair because he has “more than enough to eat at home.”

“Oh now you’re not commenting?” Kimmel asked.

Ford’s campaign released the video Monday – three days after it was supposed to be released. The mayor said Friday he would delay its release out of respect for the unexpected death of close family friend and former finance minister Jim Flaherty.
