A police officer has been taken to hospital after being struck by a motorcycle near High Park Saturday evening.

The incident occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. near Parkside Drive and Spring Road.

Police say an officer attempted to stop two motorcycles that appeared to be speeding in the area. As the motorcyclists approached the officer, police say one accelerated and struck the officer, knocking him to the ground.

The officer was taken to hospital with non life-threatening.

Police say the motorcyclists did not remain at the scene of the accident and investigators are searching for the motorcyclist that hit the officer.

The motorcycle is described as a black Honda CBR 600 RR with possible red markings. The rider was wearing leather clothing and a full face black helmet, police say, and the bike is missing its left side rear view mirror.
