A suspected road rage incident resulted in a six-vehicle collision on a highway in Innisfil on Friday evening that left a 21-year-old Mississauga man dead.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the incident happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. on the southbound lanes of Highway 400, near Simcoe Road 89.

“Initial reports suggest that two vehicles were road raging, which resulted in a collision between the two vehicles. Both were travelling southbound,” OPP Const. Pawel Sikora said.

One of the vehicles then crossed the centre median into the northbound lanes, rolled and was struck by a pickup truck, Sikora added.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Four other vehicles became involved in the collision, however police said that there were no other injuries to other drivers involved.

No charges have been laid at this point, police said.

They ask witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage to contact the Highway Safety Division at 905-841-5777.
