Two people sustained non-life threatening injuries after a tractor trailer carrying cattle collided with a truck in Dufferin County.

Ontario Provincial Police say the tractor trailer was travelling southbound on Airport Road at around 9 a.m. when it T-boned a white Ford truck that had entered the intersection at Highway 89, causing it to knock over a traffic light.

The driver of the pickup truck was briefly trapped but crews were eventually able to raise the vehicle high enough to get him out, OPP say. The driver was then taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries as was the driver of the cattle truck.

OPP say that the truck was carrying 40 cows, 10 of which briefly escaped only to be rounded up by area farmers a short time later.

An unknown number of cattle did perish in the crash, however.

The intersection remains close as crews remove the cattle from the truck.
