A male victim was found at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital with serious injuries, Toronto Paramedic Services said.

According to reports from the scene, the man appears to have been shot inside a vehicle and then made his way to a nearby store to seek help.

Shehroz Shabbir was inside one of the restaurants in the plaza with his father when he heard up to 25 gunshots.

Shabbir said the victim made his way to the restaurant where he and several people tried to help the victim.

“It’s was very terrifying. A lot of people are traumatized including myself," said Shabbir.

Yellow police tape cordoned off the plaza hours later and a vehicle riddled with bullets could still be seen in the parking lot.

A suspect vehicle described as a black, four-door sedan was last scene travelling southbound on Islington Avenue at a high rate of speed, police said.

Forensic officers are scouring the scene for evidence.
